This small island (approximately 4 hectares) which is renowned for its snorkelling and scuba diving sites, now has a nature trail through the centre of the island were you can see a bat colony (fruit bats) and a variety of palms and hard woods. With pristine white sand beaches, sun block and an umbrella are essential items as you stroll around the shores of the island.
Van hire for the trip costs 1,000 php return.
A return trip from barrio San Roque taking you out to the island costs P550 travel time 20 minutes, and allow a 4 hour stay. You then have to pay an additional P100 per additional hour.
There is a P50 fee per person to enter the Nature/Marine reserve
Snorkelling masks etc are available for hire
Payag shelters - are available to rent
Drinks and food are available but it is recommended that you bring your own picnic as cold drinks and food selection is sometimes in short supply. Why not ask the Beach Club too prepare a picnic, our barbeque and you can cook on the the Beach at your leisure?
If you know the so popular beaches in the Philippines like Boracay, Puerto Galera, Panglao, and Palawan and if you are tired of sharing a shoreline or beachfront with several other bunches of people, then Mantigue is the right place for you. On Mantigue you can truly feel like Robinson Crusoe and the local people will have their fun to play your Fridays.
A short stop over on your return journey at the cool Macao Springs realy helps clean away the salty sea and the small fish offer a free pedicure.
